In recent years, translation software has gradually become popular. However, it is widely argued that there are still many advantages to learning a language. To some extent, I agree with this opinion due to several reasons, but I also believe that there are other aspects to consider.
On the one hand, there are some reasons why I agree with those who think studying a language is still an irreplaceable option for individuals. The first reason is that it is very difficult to replace language with translation software in reality. This is because one side involves tools while the other side involves knowledge. We need tools to access knowledge easily, but we cannot use them to replace knowledge. For example, the Google Translate tool can be very helpful for individuals to improve their reading skills in English. It can serve as a study aid when they do not understand the content of an article. However, replacing English with Google Translate is a different story.
On the other hand, certain aspects need to be taken into account. Another reason is that language is the key for individuals to connect with the world. Language serves as a communication tool between people, whether they are in the same geographical area or in different countries. Therefore, learning a language is essential for effective communication with foreigners, understanding their culture, and fostering international cooperation. In recent years, there has been an increase in the number of young people learning English and attaining international IELTS certificates to enter universities. Additionally, performance in English subjects in graduation exams has also significantly improved. This trend shows that students recognize the importance of language learning early on in their academic journey.
In conclusion, I have mixed opinions on the discussed topic, and different circumstances may warrant varying perspectives. Therefore, firmly deciding on one stance can be more challenging than it appears, and maintaining a balance should be the priority, in my view.
