Band 4: News media are important in modern society. Why are they so important? Is their influence generally positive or negative? (User-Written IELTS Writing Task 2 Essay)

We are in the technological age, so the role of news media is becoming progressively important for everyone to know more information about many fields all over the world. In my view, I think that the development of news media has two sides to the coin and depends on other factors.

First, we must acknowledge that the development of news media made a huge contribution. It updates with the hottest news about the country, policy, or some diseases,… Through that, it’ll make sure that everyone can access and read immediately about urgent matters like disasters and health crises, it can help many people survive. And in here people can exchange, discuss and give their opinion about a topic.

Second, we can negate some harmful effects it brings. The news are divided into two types, including gossip news and credible news. Some websites provide many sensational news for malicious purposes. These websites spread the news to attract attention and financial gain.And some people spread some news about their love and privacy so some relationships were broken then.

All in all, although the development of news media brings a lot of effects to human, it is a double-edged sword. If we can’t know how to use it properly, it can affect to our life seriously
