The line graph illustrates the number of students enrolling for three majors (Mathematics, Science, and History) at a high school between 2010 and 2016. Overall, the number of students enrolled for math and science increased across the period; the reverse was true for those who enrolled for history.
Focusing on the increases first, around 35 thousand students enrolled in science in 2010, considerably more than 15 thousand for the major of math. This difference in numbers became less pronounced until the end of the period. After that, the number of student who chose the major of science continued its trajectory, reaching a staggering almost 60 thousand in 2016, while the proportion for math increased notably to 50 thousand.
In contrast, the figures for the remaining major experienced a considerable decrease over the period. Starting at just 15 thousand, the number of students enrolled for history were overtaken in 2011 by the number of students for math, remaining the least chosen major among the three. However, while the major of history was the second in the beginning of the period, after 2011 remained less needed major.
