Some individuals suggest that preserving the old buildings consumes too much budget, believing that they should be destroyed to make spaces for the new ones. While it is true that replacing ancient buildings has a lot of advantages, some old buildings might hold historical values which are essential to maintain the identities of several communities. I believe that to some extent, renewing the irreplaceable old buildings with a better infrastructure can be the best measure for following the trend of modernity rather than wiping out them all together.
On the one hand, spending money on constructing modern buildings helps to refresh the looks of the cities towards the modern view. Some buildings are very old and can be an eye-sore for the society especially in the techology era we are living. For instance, modern buildings are more attractive and encouraging for the visitors than the old buildings with bad infrastructure and are dangerous to the citizen if they are not being repaired regularly.
Conversely, several ancient buildings should be protected since they preserve the identity of one’s country. Studies has consistently reveal that by having national heritages and statues, the citizen are nurtured to have a sense of belongings towards their country and thus, fostering the patriotisme amongst the society. In many countries, ancient buildings often become the places of attractions for visitors to visit as they could introduce the history and culture of a country.
In conclusion, government should allocate more funds on rennovating the old buildings which can potentially teach values to the next generation and replace those that are no longer relevant to the communities.
