The two given maps compare the city of Westley now and how it was back in 1815.
In more than two centuries, many changes are noticeable : there are less green areas and much more built ones, new transport infrastructures have taken place. Although, some spaces remain the same.
On one hand, some buildings have been replaced meanwhile others have been added. For instance, the coach inn became a sports hall and a museum has been established on its right side. We can also notice that the Lenton woods have been cut down to build a housing estate. Nevertheless, some places like the market square and the town hall kept their location. Natural areas like Lenton lake did not changed either.
On the other hand, we can notice differences in term of transport. The old fields were removed to build a railway which also led to the suppression of the Twine Tall Bridge that was over the Twine River. By cutting off the fields, another transport road became longer, linking the Tinton Village to a shopping, business and residential area. The new projects were made in order to modernise the city and perhaps to initiate it to globalization.
