The pie chart compares the proportion of different fuel types used to generate energy in the UK in 2014 and 2018. Overall, it is evident that there was a decrease in the amount of use of coal and nuclear energy to create power while an opposite trend can be seen in the figure for renewable resources. In addition, the majority of energy in the UK was generated by gas in both years.
According to the pie chart, in 2014, the proportion of gas used to generate power in the UK in comparison with all fuel types was the most significant, at 30,1%, which was still unchanged in the next 4 years. Meanwhile, a similar tendency can be witnessed in the figure for Oil and other fuel types, standing at 4% during the research period.
As can also be seen in the pie chart, the use of renewable energy remarked an 11,2% growth, standing at 26,2% in 2018 while the proportion of nuclear energy and coal experienced a downward trend, decreasing slightly from 22,5% to 21,6% and from 28,1% to 18,1% respectively
