The bar chart illustrates four different states of dissertations written by students in a UK university in three separate years – 1990, 2000 and 2010.
Overall, with the exception of the third category, all the other three witnessed an increased trend over the past 20 years recorded. Notably, it saw a slight fluctuation in terms of the fourth category.
Looking at the category ‘completing on time’, there was an upward trend among the years. Starting at the number of 150 students , this steadily increased to over 200 of them and finally reached its peak of about 355 in 2010. Conversely, the category “failed to write” saw an opposite trend as there was a decline among students failing to complete the task, from over 50 to just about 10 of them.
Regarding tasks completed late and rewritten, both saw an upward trend, albeit slight difference. The former saw a steady increase over 20 years, commencing with about 25 students to a range of 50 who could not finish on time. Almost similarly ,in the category ” rewritten”, while there were also a small number of students assigned to redo their tasks, in 2000 it peaked at about 45 students before experiencing a pullback in 2010, about 30 of them.
