The bar graph and the table above illustrate the ranking of notebook brands that dominated the market share over the period of 2016-2017 along with a 2018 forecast, measured by global shipments. Overall, the rankings remained constant throughout the period with HP, Lenovo, and Dell’s products being the most frequently shipped worldwide. During those years, it is also revealed that the total shipments circled around 160-165 million.
HP, Lenovo, and Dell are the most formidable players in the market. HP owned more than a fifth of the market during 2016-2017 and the number is predicted to rise gradually in 2018. Lenovo shared a similar result with HP even though its 2018 market forecast is projected to decline in the coming year. Dell’s market share growth, on the other hand, almost appears to reach a plateau of 15%.
Asus, Apple, and Acer each possessed roughly 10% of market proportion. Asus started the year 2016 with an astounding 10,3% but is shown to have its productivity plummeting in the next two years. Conversely, Apple displayed a gradual increase of its market power, beginning with an 8% share in 2016 and ending with one-tenth of the share in 2018. Acer interestingly had an almost steady share progress of 8%.
