Overall, people in the UK spent most of their free time enjoying radio, TV, and video with more men than women. In contrast, women devoted more to housework, especially on the most time-consuming task, cooking and washing.
Firstly, recreational pursuits dominated the figure was TV, radio and video, which spent more in men with 137 minutes compared to 118 minutes in women. Reading, nevertheless, was the only leisure activity that took more time for women than men with 19 minutes, compared to the fact that men spent an average of 18 minutes on books.
In addition, women devoted more time to most household chores than men. Notably, females took nearly 80 minutes to cook and wash, while it took men more than half of that time, around 30 minutes to accomplish such tasks. However, for repairing tasks, men spent more time on it, nearly 20 minutes while around 10 minutes was the time women averagely spent on fixing.
