The bar chart illustrates the proportion of migrants from six different countries to Australia in 1987 and 1997.
It is clear from the graph that, Europe had the highest migrated countries in Australia over the period shown, whereas the percentage of migrants in North and South America dropped considerably.
In 1987, the number of migrants in Europe was the most popular country accounted for only about 35%, however, it fell to dramatically about 28% in 1997. Similarly, Rest of Asia experienced only about 20% in 1987 and then it dropped to 15% in 1997. The amount of migrants in Oceania also showed a significant drop at 16% in 1987 and then increased a sharply 23% in 1997.
In the meantime, the amound of migrants in Middle East and North Africa and Northeast Asia remained stable in the both years, however, migrants use grew dramatically to finally reach about 20% and 25% respectively. In contrast, rising to a peak of about 5% in 1987, before falling back to about 4% in 1997.
