Overall, almost all regions recorded an upward trend over the surveyed time frame, except for Africa and England which slightly decreased, while North and Central America remained consistently stable with the same figure over the period.
In 1992, South America experienced the highest production of cacao beans, with 143000 figures, following by Asia which saw 119000 products, whereas Africa consistently showed the lowest production. Overtime, the production of Asia increased significantly to 436000 in 1998, becoming the regions had highest production of cacao beans in six regions at that time. In addition, Oceania and South America both saw a steady increase throughout the rest of the period.
Meanwhile, Africa recorded the lowest production at the beginning, remaining this rate at the end of period. Moreover, the production of England dropped slightly from 56000 in 1992 to 49000 in 1998, while North and Central America had 46000 products in 1992, before this figure fell to 25000 in the following year, and recovered to 46000 in 1998.
