The line chart illustrates the percentage of population at several age groups in a particular nation from 1960 to 2040.
In general, there is a similar downward trend for the data of 0-14 and 15-64 age groups, but the rest one is contrast.at the beginning, the figure for 15-64 age group was the highest, but till the end it equals to the one for over-65 age group.
In the first three decades, there were many differences among the categories. The number of children began at 30% of population, then it went down to 20%, after a 10-year maintaining period. In contrary, the figure for the old age age group went up slightly from over 15 percent to a fifth of population. The rest data had some fluctuations from nearly 55 to 60 percent, three times as much as the two other figures.
During the next period, the proportion of child age group declined slowly and was forseen to continue this trend, hit the trough at 10 percent. The same for labor age group, it was predicted to decrease nearly twice as much as, at 45% in 2040. In contrast, the percentage of old people will increase significantly and reach the peak at 45%, equals to the number of 15-64 age group in the last year.
