Band 9: Some people say that advertising is extremely successful at persuading us to buy things. Other people think that advertising is so common that we no longer pay attention to it. Discuss both these views and give your own opinion.

In today’s digital era, myriad advertisements influence various aspects of our daily lives. Some people believe that advertising plays a crucial role in driving individuals to purchase numerous products, while others argue that consumers tend to ignore advertisements for various reasons. This essay will explore these different points of view and present my opinion on the matter.

Some employers believe there are several ways to introduce products to customers, with advertising being one of the most important methods to promote and persuade people to make purchases. Consequently, the marketing department usually has the highest budget compared to other departments in a company. They believe that product sales depend significantly on the creativity of the marketing team in creating advertisements for both online and offline media. For example, sportswear brand Nike has successfully increased its profits by signing superstar footballer Cristiano Ronaldo as their brand ambassador. As a result, Nike products such as shoes, T-shirts, and accessories have become the most popular sportswear around the world.

On the other hand, advertising faces some challenges in society. Many people are now more concerned about the quality and ingredients of products rather than trusting the advertisements they see or read in the media. For instance, even though Coca-Cola recruited celebrities like Gigi Hadid and Selena Gomez for their commercials, the company’s profits have decreased significantly over the last decade. This decline is because people have become more aware of healthy lifestyles. Furthermore, the sheer volume of advertisements on various platforms can lead to consumer fatigue, causing people to ignore them. Many individuals prefer to find real descriptions of products and read reviews from other customers. I believe that the majority of consumers are smart buyers who can research products online. Thus, reading and watching advertisements is becoming less common.

In conclusion, although some advertisements can dramatically increase a company’s profits, I believe that many people tend to make purchasing decisions based on their own research rather than relying on advertisements. The oversaturation of advertisements across multiple platforms may lead to consumer boredom and disinterest.
