The diagram below illustrates a fire exit plan in a college accommodation
Overall, the dormitory consists of seven different bedrooms arranged around the corridor, along with 2 different stairs and a lift. Beside that, there are 2 separate fire exits, both leading to a different meeting point outside the building. One noticeable feature of the diagram are the arrows that show the residents the quickest routes to safely evacuate.
The residents in bedroom one to three are guided to choose the Fire Exit A, which is located at the bottom-left of the plan outside the dormitory in order to escape. The Exits will eventually lead the occupants to Meeting point 1, which is also located outside the accommodation. Additionally, there is a staircase next to the exit, providing an alternative escape route.
In contrast, the occupants in bedrooms four to seven are located closer to the Fire Exit B at the top right of the plan, which leads to Meeting point B. Similar to Fire Exit A and Meeting point A, Fire Exit B and Meeting Point B is also located outside the accommodation. The other staircase is also near the Fire Exit B as another way to escape.
A lift can be noticed in the middle of the layout, however, it is not advised to use it during fire emergencies. Instead, the residents who finds themself near the lift is guided to follow the route which the arrows has shown to reach Fire Exit B and evacuate safely
