In the contemporary world, it is argued that in some nations, it is illicit for companies to turn down job applicants because of their age. From my perspective, I believe it is a positive development due to several reasons.
Firstly, by implementing regulations to interdict businesses from rejecting job candidates for their age, equal opportunities in employment will be significantly increased. To clarify, companies can promote fairness by ensuring that all candidates, regardless of their age, have a fair chance to access different job positions. For instance, chain stores like McDonald’s, Starbucks and Walmart hire employees of all ages, from college students to retirees, as long as they can meet job requirements. In addition, with the prohibition against age discrimination, companies are required to appraise individuals based on their actual abilities and qualifications instead of depending on their age. Therefore, this will foster a more equitable workforce and allow corporations to select the most suitable and potential applicants for job roles.
Moreover, a working environment with employees of varying ages can provide greater creativity, innovation and productivity. To clarify, by imposing anti-age discrimination laws, different age groups with distinct backgrounds, styles and preferences in a workplace can generate unique ideas and problem-solving approaches that will create mutual supports and cooperative relationships among employees, thereby contributing to company’s success. For example, some technology companies like Google or Facebook, while younger employees will seek out informations and keep up with the latest trends, older workers will offer specialized knowledge and solve complex processes. The effective collaboration and strong engagement between workforces allow companies to compete in global market.
In conclusion, by prohibiting companies to reject job candidates rely on their age is a positive development that boost equal opportunities and form a diverse work environment.
