The table illustrates the percentage of income men and women and children expenditures for food, electronic equipment, music and videos in the UK in 1998.
Overall, adults spent most of their income on food, while children, especially boys, tended to spend their money on music and electronic equipment. In addition, girls spent more revenue on music and videos compared to boys, while adults showed conversely in their spending on food and electronic equipment.
In adults, they spent 25% of their income on food, with women spending much more than men, about 25%. Conversely, men spent their time more than women on electronic equipment between 10% and 1%, although both adults spent an equal 5% on music and very little on videos, just about 2%of men and 0.5% of women.
Regarding children, the largest spending on music was about 39%. This is followed by food which was consumpted just 10% of their total income. Boys and girls spent similarly on music, from 9% to 11% respectively. This is followed by electronic equipment which was used by boys and girls at 23%, but boys spent more of their income than girls and slightly more on videos, just 13% and 1% respectively.
