The bar chart illustrates the results of a survey of 1000 adolescents in five different countries – USA, UK, Mexico, Japan, and Egypt about what age they believed certain rights and responsibilities should be granted to young people.
Overall, the age of marriage and voting in all countries often higher than the age of criminal responsibility, especially with Japan, which had the age of two areas above higher than any others. In addition, USA stands out with the lowest age of criminal responsibility.
In terms of marriage, USA and UK suggested the appropriate age for marriage is 18, whereas Mexico and Egypt were lower with the age of 16. Especially is Japan, this country advocated for the age of this area is 22 – the age was suggested is higher than the rest. When it came to the age of voting, most of the countries believed that 16 is suitable age that youngster should be granted. However, the age was increasing 18 in USA and 20 in Japan.
For criminal responsibility, almost the countries tended to suggest the age from 14 to 19. Interestingly, in USA, they supposed that young people should be empowered to held accountable for their actions at an early age – 12.
