Nowadays, the number of crimes is increasing day by day, and as a result, criminals are receiving the necessary punishments for the offenses they have committed. However, many people believe that prisoners should be made to do community service instead of being locked away in jail. In my opinion, I do not quite agree that certain prisoners can be employed without payment, as they can be dangerous to people.
On the one hand, some offenses do not necessarily warrant harsh punishments. In such cases, prisoners could be required to engage in voluntary work that helps police officers and detectives. This would also allow inmates to socialize and develop soft skills. While some clever criminals may have orchestrated heists, they are often aware of the actions their peers might take in the future. Thus, detectives can leverage the inmates’ insights to anticipate future crimes.
On the other hand, there are serious crimes, such as murder and acts of violence, which are generally unforgivable and merit life imprisonment rather than requiring the inmates to perform difficult tasks. Firstly, there is a concern that allowing these individuals to work outside of jail could increase the risk of escape. Secondly, their history of violence indicates that they remain uncontrollable, even when employed under supervision in prison settings.
In conclusion, some individuals argue that inmates can be employed in ways that benefit the community, while others insist that certain prisoners should be compelled to undertake unpaid social work instead of serving time in jail. However, I do not agree, as it is likely that those individuals would continue to commit crimes.
