The pie chart presents the proportion of public transport and private cars used by Edmonton citizens, while the table shows for what purposes they use those vehicle.
Overall, it is clear that people in Edmonton mostly prefers to use their personal cars, followed by light rail transit system, whereas, taxi and bus come on the bottom of preference list. As for table, people report commuting to work, business, and taking to children to school as the main purposes of their travel, whilst visiting shopping and leisure activities are found to be the least important reasons.
Focusing on the percentages of transports, using the private cars constitutes almost half( 45%) , which is noticeably more than the figures of other modes. This trend is followed by LRT which 35% of people opt for using this transport means. In sharp contrast, Edmontons state utilizing bus and taxi as being their least common type, making up equal shares both( 10%).
Moving on the reasons of using transport means, commuting to work tops the list, with the corresponding percentage standing at over half, whereas Taking to children to school and business ranked as the second and third reasons for prioritizing transportation, accounting for 40% and 45% respectively. Finally, the proportion of shopping in terms of using vehicles is identical with that of leisure activities – 15%.
