Band 8+: Nowadays children watch a lot of TV and play video games. However, some people think that these activities are not good for child's mental health. To what extent, do you agree or disagree?

Note: Both the topic and the essay were created by one of our users.

It is undeniable that children today spend a significant amount of time watching TV shows and playing video games. While some individuals believe that this is unhealthy for their minds, I believe that excessive screen time can lead to problems for children. This essay will discuss the potential negative impacts and suggest some solutions.

Numerous studies have been conducted on human cognitive function, indicating that exposure to screens—whether through phones, televisions, or video games—can obstruct children’s thinking processes. This exposure may also affect their daily lives. For instance, while playing video games, children can interact with others, but if they engage with negative influences, their thoughts and behaviors may be altered based on their environment. This exposure can lead them down a harmful path.

There are several solutions to help mitigate the addiction to video games and screen interactions. One effective approach is promoting reading. Research has shown that reading books can enhance cognitive abilities and help shift mindsets away from video game addiction. Another solution is to start each day without screens, gradually integrating this practice into a daily routine. By doing so, children can reduce their reliance on screens and discover new activities they may have never considered before.

In conclusion, excessive interaction with phones, screens, and video games can lead to various problems. Reducing this screen time and exposing oneself to new and different activities can foster healthier habits.
