The table illustrates the number of people joining a wildlife survey in Britain from 2001 to 2009 every 2 years.
Overall, the number of adults and children participating has increased significantly every 2 years and the proportion of adults joining in the survey is higher than the proportion of children joining.The highest number of adults participating was in 2005 àn the highest number of children participating was in 2009.
Between 2001 and 2003, the total number of participants in the wildlife survey increased significantly. The number of adults taking part in increased from 36,000 to 212,000. In 2003, the number of children participating in the survey tripled compared to 2001 from 12,000 to 36,000.
From 2005 to 2009, the total number of survey joins wasn’t steady , rising to around 364,000 in 2005, then falling to 362,000 in 2007, and increasing again significantly in 2009 with 540,000 people. Adult participation peaked at 332,000 in 2005 and has been on a downward trend from 331,000 to 270,000. The number of children who joined in 2005 and 2007 fell to 31,000. However, in 2009 the number of participants increased almost nine times compared to the other years, about 270,000.
