There is a current trend for people to think that global climate change should be tackled by individuals. Whilst acknowledging that personal initiative is important, the majority of people argue that governments and large enterprises should be the ones who are responsible to prevent global climate change. In this essay, I will examine this trend, present both perspectives and provide compelling arguments regarding this matter. In my view, the government and individuals must cooperate to overcome this issue.
Citizens hold the responsibility of reducing global climate change as well. There are several significant advantages to individuals taking an active role in protecting the environment. Firstly, their efforts to reduce global climate change can make a substantial difference in the long term and be beneficial for citizens. Secondly, by taking actions to save our planet, they can inspire others to do the same. Simply, individuals can duplicate other people’s unique activities, such as planting trees and recycling garbage. To exemplify, many people are now using public transportation instead of their own vehicles, and they have also started using eco-friendly bags. Consequently, this trend may be a beneficial decision for environment, as it can propel it to greater, apart from the facts that individuals can opt to reduce pollution in worldwide.
On the other hand, while the role of individuals is important, the government and enterprises should also step forward to combat global climate change. There are various programs available for them to contribute to saving our planet. For example, the government imposes an additional fee on citizens for using plastic. Additionally, enterprises are willing to pay taxes for the amount of carbon dioxide they produce and improving how it is managed to minimize pollution.
To sum up, while there may not be a perfect solution to address these issues, it is crucial not to disregard the drawbacks. The advantages of individuals and governments’ role in maintaining our planet, in terms of the environment, far outweigh the disadvantages. By taking this approach, they can reduce global climate change, even though it may involve taking risks.
