The layouts depict the changes which will take place in a civic center between the present day and the future.
Overall, it is clear that the civic center will be modernized with the introduction of a few underground facilities. Furthermore, some facilities remain their positions while some will be rearranged/relocated/repositioned.
At present, it is clear that there are two car parks on both corners in the northern part of the layout, with a cinema situated in the middle. The council offices are positioned between an exhibition area in the southeastern corner and a town hall. To the right of the town hall, a shopping centre and a library stand along Smith Street.
In the future, the civic centre will undergo several major changes. The two car parks in the north will be removed, making space for a cafe in the northwest and a hotel and restaurant in the northeast corner. While the cinema will remain unchanged, the council offices will move to the southwest corner, and the exhibition centre will take the library’s space in the southeast. The town hall will be shifted slightly, positioned above a new underground car park. The shopping centre will stay on the eastern side, but the underground library will be constructed and replaced for the current council offices.
