The given bar chart illustrates how the British consumed the recommended amount of fruit and vegetables by various age groups in 2006.
Overall, it is evident that the group aged 55-64 showed the highest figure, while the opposite was true for that of the 19-24 year-old people. In addition, women across all the age groups witnessed a higher rate than men except the 75+ cohort.
In the year 2006 the 55-64 demographic experienced a dominant category among all groups recorded around 33% for men and 35% for women. Trailing behind was the 65-74 bracket whose male rate (28%) less than that from the former group and the female rate was about 30%. In contrast, the percentage of the oldest group was the same in both genders, representing roughly 25%.
When it comes to younger groups, those aged 35-44 saw the largest gap between males and females ranging from 22% to 25%. A similar pattern can be seen in the group of people aged 25-34 showing a constant gap about 5%. Moreover, the difference between the youngest group was small, approximately 15%.
