Nowadays, ebooks are usually preferred by the individuals as they are quite cheap and eco-friendly compared to their paper-based counterpart. I completely agree with the statement as more and more people have preference to using ebooks.
Firstly, space is an important factor in this preference. Providing people keep on buying paper based books, they may be short on space. Because of which people like to read books in a e-device as you can carry thousands of books in your pocket, conversely, it is not possible to even carry a single book in your pocket. Moreover, students also admire these e-books as they do not have to carry excessive load on their shoulders.
Secondly, a single book creation demands a lot of log which results in uncontrolled forest cutting. Therefore, it may damage the habitat of many animals who might be dependent on those trees. Moreover, if we don’t control excessive cutting of forests, it may become difficult for us to breathe in the future. On the other hand, creating e-books just takes minimal human effort like using some computer program to type the words.
Moreover, new authors also prefer to write e-books as they can easily be distributed to the customers. People just have to buy it from a website and in less than a second it is added to your virtual library. Comparing to its physical counterpart where you have to wait for number of days in order to get your package.
To conclude, cost and eco-friendly initiatives are one factors but the convenience of carrying thousands of books which can be read anywhere with just a touch of the finger, has influenced people to prefer e-books over paper-based ones.
