The line graphs illustrate the expenditure of British parents on their children’s sporting activities and the number of children who took part in three different sports during 2008 to 2014.
Overall we can see that the average amount that parents spent on their children’s sport is increased each year during six-year period. In terms of the number of participation, football is significantly more popular than athletics and swimming.
In 2008, parents almost spent 20 pounds on their children’s sporting activities per month, also parents spending on their children during 6 years had a gradual increase during 6 years and finally became about 30 pounds for each month till the year of 2014.
Looking at participation numbers, in 2008 approximately 8 millions of children took part in football and for 6 following years it remained steady and came over 9 millions. At the beginning children who joined athletics were almost below 2.5 millions and by time it appeared around 5 millions. Children who practised swimming at first were less than 1 million and by 6 years it has an increasing about 4 millions.
