Nowadays there us a drastic change in criminal rate when compared with the olden days,which leads to loss of life and property of individuals. Most of the nations follows prison system as solution for reducing the crime,even though providing awareness about the consequence of crime to the society could create more impact on them. In my opinion, i partially agree with the statement since both method should be practiced for eradication of crime,which help the individuals to lead a rational life.
The most seen practice for bringing down the rate of crime is prison system. This help the victim from further threats from the offender as well as to the society. Moreover, it help the offender to understand about their mistakes that had done in their past. This help the individual to self analyse and to rethink about life. This phase is known as redemption phase. Besides the punishment that imposed on the offenders could create a great impact on society, which creates a fear among people who will or being in criminal activities. The life sentence and death penalty for those who commit heinous crime such as rape, would create fear on society for not being engage in criminal activities. Therefore punishment like that could reduce the crime rate to an extend.
On the other hand,providing awareness could also create an impact for reducing the crime rate. Most of the people are not aware about the consequences of the crime or how it affects their life. Authorities should educate the people about the constitutional laws and how it functions.
To conclude, most of the countries follows both method for reducing crime rate. However providing awareness or imprisonment would not change the behaviour of some individuals due to their inborn irrational behaviour. It is better to provide awareness for the prevention of crime
