The proportion of the urban population in Indonesia began at 12% in 1970 and rose significantly above the ratios of Thailand and the Philippines by 2010. The percentage increased to 51% in 2020 and is estimated to continue rising until 2040. Thailand’s urban population rose from just under 12% to almost 51% between 1970 and 2020, and it is predicted to increase by 2040.
