The diagrams illustrate the evolution that happened in nelson city between two years 2000 and today.

From an overall perspective it is readily apparent that, the city underwent in fundamental developments in shopping, transport and recreational facilities. The university building remained unchanged during transition.

To commence with, in the north adjacent to the university a hall of residence has been built to accommodate students. Now, tramline also connected with the university to the city centre. Other notable developments include introduced to bike rental schema and move the train station above the city centre. Moreover, the old market has changed and make a new shop.

Furthermore, on the north east corner trees has vanished and erected a new shopping centre. The road below the city centre has transformed for the pedestrians only. In the past the port remained empty and now has been modified with restraunts, bars and clubs.
