Overall, all countries witnessed an upward trend in the number of international students, except for country B, which saw an opposite direction. Moreover, of the five countries, country A attracted the most students throughout the period.
In 2000, 111,300 students studied in country A, the highest figure among all the countries. This was followed by country B, with 90,892 students choosing to study there, which was nearly twice as high as the figure for country C and was triple the figure for country D. At the bottom of the list came country E, with 11,008 students. Thereafter, country A increased sharply to 187,652 students in 2006, still ranking first. Countries C, D, and E followed a similar pattern, with respective figures being 89,421, 34,010 and 13,890 in the final year. Meanwhile, there was a decline in the number of students choosing to study in country B, with 77,567 students in 2004. Then, country B experienced a slight rise to 82,457 students in 2006.
