The bar chart below gives information about the oil production in OPEC and non- OPEC countries globally over a 40 year-period, starting from 1980.
Overall, the output of oil production in OPEC Middle East was the only sector increasing throughout the period, while the Non-OPEC and other OPEC countries fell slightly over each year.
At the beginning point in 1980-2000, oil production reached approximately 12 million barrels globally, especially the Non-OPEC countries as the dominant factor, with approximately 9 million barrels. Nevertheless, other OPEC did not join the oil production in this period. In the next period, the output of oil production in OPEC Middle East rose sharply which became the dominant sector, accounting for one to half the barrels totally. Likewise, resulting in joining the market of other OPEC countries, the output of oil production rocketed significantly, nearly twice as much as before.
Moreover, the number of barrels in OPEC Middle East countries increased dramatically, reaching 17 million barrels per day, while the total output of oil production in this period was only 19 million barrels. By contrast, the oil production in Non-OPEC and other OPEC countries was recorded falling steadily through this last decade.
