In the contemporary era, the advent of the internet has revolutionized human interaction, with a significant portion of communication now conducted through digital platforms. While some individuals argue that this shift towards online communication has detrimental effects, I am of the opinion that this trend can be beneficial for human beings.
On the one hand, it is evident why some people harbor concerns about the use of the internet for communication. Firstly, excessive use of smartphones or computers can have adverse effects on individuals’ mental and physical well-being. Presently, many people prefer to communicate through platforms such as Messenger, Zalo, Zoom, and Google Meet, often at the expense of face-to-face interactions. Consequently, some individuals may spend an excessive amount of time glued to screens, leading to health issues such as mental instability and vision problems. Furthermore, the proliferation of internet usage has also facilitated instances of phishing. Malicious individuals exploit online platforms to disseminate toxic links or unsafe websites, deceiving unsuspecting individuals into divulging personal information. Subsequently, these fraudulent organizations utilize advanced technology to exploit this information for financial gain, often victimizing the individuals’ family, relatives, or friends.
On the other hand, there are compelling reasons to support the positive aspects of online communication. Firstly, the internet has fundamentally altered how people communicate and live, offering unparalleled flexibility. Individuals can now engage in communication at their convenience, irrespective of distance and time constraints. For instance, friends residing in different countries, such as Vietnam and Canada, can engage in conversations from morning till evening, transcending geographical barriers. Additionally, online communication offers economic benefits by saving time and reducing expenses related to traditional in-person meetings. People can avoid the costs associated with travel and dining by opting for free online communication platforms such as Messenger or Zalo.
In conclusion, while it is undeniable that online communication may lead to adverse health effects and expose individuals to fraudulent activities, I firmly believe that the internet plays a pivotal role in enhancing human lives by offering flexibility and economic benefits.
