Business was born to make profit regardless how its impact on the society. From my personal view, I partly agree with this statement.
Basically, business existed with a purpose of making profit and to secure a stable income for workers. And social responsibilities were assumed to be government’s duty. Therefore, there are assumptions that businesses appear not only to deposit tax used to make social facilities , but also create chances for people to have a working place beside government works. But company nowadays are making progress in the way they contribute for the society.
Currently, some of the biggest firm in the world have a huge social impact not only in economic aspect but also environment, or even policy. There are some firm in some particular industry have significant relationship with environment issues. For instance, factory company directly influence the environment, with a big number of CO2 release out in the sky. So, with their strong financial base, business nowadays are and should put more effort to reserve the environment not only for their reputation or responsibilities but also human being’s future.
In conclusion, with the above analysis, I partly agree the the author’s statement
