It is true that in this era of science and technology, not only has manufacturing and agriculture been dominated by machines, but the service industries have also been mechanized at such a rapid rate. This issue, although raises up various notable global concerns regardingthe socio-economic aspect, brings undeniable advantages. Therefore, from my personal perspective, the bright effects of such mechanical development can definitely outweigh the negative sides.
On the one hand, the evolution of such technological devices does come with several limitations. The most obvious drawback is the job displacement, in which the unemployment proportion increased at such a dramatic pace due to the replacement of human laborers by robots and high-quality machines, leading to an international economic and societal crisis. This can be seen in the First Industrial Revolution in the UK in the late 18th century, the replacement of skilled workers by machines in the textile industries not only reduced the demand for skilled labor but also led to lower wages, causing significant economic hardship for working-class families.
On the other hand, it is of note that the machine – related enhancement in the manual labor provides the human beings with indisputable conveniences in both economic and societal aspects that can absolutely outweight such disadvantages. Firstly, although some manual employment may be eliminated, this transition is more likely to create new high-skilled jobs in terms of operation, maintenance and innovation machines. For example, the First Industrial Revolution soon created more job opportunities such as machinists or engineers or repair and raintenance technicians, thereby contributing largely to the overall economic growth. Moreover, high productivity gains may be ensured given the fact the machines can work continuously without being fatigued, thereby manufacturing products at such undesirable pace that a human can never achieve. As a result, such mechanical improvement, despite causing potential economic meltdown initially, may enhance long-term economic development.
In conclusion, the issue of machines replacing humans workers in the manual workforce may cause a few negative effects that should be taken into consideration, it provide the humans being with a variety of positive impacts that can not be denied.
