The table presents how many tons of cacao beans were produced in different regions from 1992 to 1998.
Overall, the yield of cacao beans in Asia and Oceania consistently increased over all the years whilst that of the others experienced fluctuation. Another remarkable feature is that the yield in Asia and South America was higher than the others over the period shown.
Between 1992 and 1998, the production of cacao beans in Asia rose sharply, becoming the region of the highest output in 1998 (436,000 tons). That of Oceania had a similar pattern, yet less significantly than Asia, with the output increasing by 37,000 tons by 1998. Regarding the yield of cacao beans in South America, it witnessed a marginal decline from 1992 to 1996 before surging dramatically to 389,000 tons by 1998.
It is evident that after soaring rapidly and standing at 119,000 tons in 1996, the yield of cacao beans in Africa plunged dramatically to 25,000 tons two years later. This figure for North and Central America in both 1992 and 1998 was equal (46,000 tons). In England, a slight fluctuation was seen in the yield of cacao beans which eventually reached 49,000 tons in 1998.
