Studying history is considered a waste of time by some people, whilst others believe that learning this subject is necessary. In my opinion, I think that former is not correct, so that I support the latter thought.
On the one hand, several people think that spending time to learn history is useless, as the knowledge from history, such as dates, names and facts is rarely used in daily life or beneficial for the future. The reason of their thinking like that is that if the history was useful for the future, the same mistakes which occurred in ancient times would not be repeated by people. Furthermore, each historical event has different perspectives, therefore events could also be interpreted, which it is another reason for making history redundant.
On the other hand, some support teaching history is fundamental, because it helps young people understand their own culture and how their county and traditions have evolved. History also gives identity and unify people from same nation. Many people believe that if someone does not know own history, this person cannot create own future, so that it shows patterns of behaviour or events in the past and their outcome which can help us avoid similar outcomes in the future. Through the historical records people can learn about changes and how others are affected by it. For this reason, I strongly contend that history is as important as other subjects.
In conclusion, while working on history is considered meaningless by some because of repetition of the same mistakes, and truths has been interpreted, others thinks that this subject is basic, teaching youth about their roots and records of past events. I think historical awareness can be valuable, because it helps people recognize where thy belong and try to prevent them from repeating the same mistakes in the future.
