Overall, Mototola’s sales decreased significantly over the period, being from the first place to the second place. Sony Ericsson experienced a similar trend, decreasing gradually throughout the period, whereas Nokia’s sales rose sharply, which took the first place.
With regard to the increasing trend, Nokia’s sales started with roughly 20%. It dropped slightly to around 19% in 1997 despite the small fluctuation in 1995. Surprisingly, it escalated significantly to around 40% in 2002, which was double of the number of percentage in 1991, and it overtook Mototola to become the most market share in the period. After that, it decreased to 30% in 2004.
Furthermore, although Mototola accounted for more than 30% of market share in 1994, having the largest in the year, his sales surged to below 15% in 2000 before rising slightly to around 18% in 2004. Lastly, Sony Ericcson’s sales fluctuated over the period, which it increased sharply from 10% in 1994 to 15% in 1997, and decreased afterwards. In 2003, Sony Ericsson reached almost 7% of sales, and this figure increased to 10% in 2004.
