Overall, in comparing the data observed, initially the majority of male and female lawyers were inclined to the government sector, while after a decade and a half, the figures slightly declined.In contrast, the fewest number of lawyers preferred to explore a career as a business lawyer in both genders initially, which remained at a stable position with little variation in numbers.
In 2001, a significant number of lawyers were keen to serve in government, with 45% of males and 41% of females. However, 2016 showed a drastic decline in the number of male lawyers, with a 6% preference, and a 1% increase for female lawyers. The ‘other’ industry was the second choice for lawyers, where males accounted for 26% and females for 28%. In contrast, the numbers increased for males by 3%, and a sharp fall was noted, with 16%, for others profession.
