The bars compare the number of people (in millions) who were affected by four types of noise pollution during the day and night time, the four types of noises are – traffic, train, aircraft, and lastly industry – in the city and the rural regions .
Overall, the most disturbing noise was the traffic noise with the highest number of people during the day and night, while industry had the least number people for both areas.
On the first hand, in the city, traffic was the most disturbing noise with 64 million people were affected during the day, and 48 million at night. While the train was the second most disturbing noise with 10 million during the day, and 8 million at night. Aircraft and industry had the least number of people who were affected by the noise with only between 4 million to 1 million during the day, and between 1 million to 0.25 million a night.
On the other hand, in rural areas, the numbers of people who were affected by the noises were much lower than the city. For example, the traffic had the highest number of people with only 34 million and 24 million during the day and night. While train and aircraft had much lower numbers comparing to the city with numbers between 8 million and 6 million during the day shift, and 2 million to 1 million during the night shift. And lastly, no one was affected by the industrial noise in rural regions.
In summary, the most disturbing noise in the two areas was the traffic, while trains and aircrafts were much lower than traffic specially in rural regions, and in the last, industry had the least numbers for both areas.
