The pie charts illustrate the number of students in elementary schools across four different Australian states: New South Wales, South Australia, Australian Capital Territory, and Western Australia in 2010.
Overall, in many states, the largest percentage of students falls within the 21-25 age range, which accounts for almost half of the charts. Additionally, some primary schools have classrooms with 20 students or fewer, a figure that also represents a significant portion of the charts.
In New South Wales, the highest percentage of students in elementary schools is in the 21-25 range, comprising 37% of the total. Furthermore, classrooms with 20 students or fewer, as well as those with 26-30 students, account for 26% and 33% respectively. The lowest figure is for classrooms with 30 students or more, which has only 4%. In South Australia, the percentage of classrooms with 20 students or fewer comprises 36%. Consequently, the combined total for 21-25 students and 26-30 students is 64%, while the figure for classrooms with 30 students or more remains at 4%.
In the Australian Capital Territory, just over half (51%) of the classrooms fall within the 21-25 student range. Similarly, the combined total of classrooms with 20 students or fewer, 26-30 students, and 30 or more students accounts for 49%. Conversely, in Western Australia, the highest percentage is also in the 21-25 range at 42%, while the lowest is for classes with 30 or more students, at 5%. Additionally, classrooms with 20 students or fewer and those with 26-30 students together make up 53% of the overall chart.
