The line graph illustrates the exported revenue of clothing from Bangladesh in the period between 1988 and 2012. The pie chart gives information about the total export earnings from clothing in different countries in the European Union, the USA, Canada, Japan, Turkey, and others in 2012.
Overall, what stands out from the line graph is that the amount of money generated from clothing exports witnessed a significant rise throughout the period given, especially in 2004. As for the main feature in the pie chart, the European Union was by far the largest destination for Bangladesh’s clothing exports, while all other destinations accounted for smaller proportions.
The value of clothing exported from Bangladesh began the period at just around $2.5 billion, after which it rose gradually to more than $5 billion in 2004, roughly double that of 1988. The figure then recorded a sharp growth, increasing dramatically to $20 billion by the end of the period, eight times its initial figure.
In 2012, it is noticeable that the European Union accounted for the largest share of clothing exports at 60% ($11.38 billion), distantly followed by the USA, at roughly a third of the EU’s figure, at $4.53 billion. Canada and other countries contributed a far smaller share than the USA, making up 8% ($1.52 billion) and 5% ($0.87 billion), respectively. Meanwhile, Japan and Turkey accounted for the smallest shares in 2012, at 2% ($0.4 billion) and 1% ($0.36 billion), respectively.
