It is argued that with the development of internet technology, people can easily understand how foreign people live without travelling to different nations. Although cutting-edge technology brings a lot of advantages, I strongly disagree because travelling abroad is essential for dwellers who are curious about people’s lives all over the world.
On the other hand, internet technology provides a variety of information about all countries around the world. Indeed, users can watch exciting videos, vlogs, news in some platforms such as Tiktok, Facebook,….In addition, citizens can read some comments about the destinations they want to travel to know about the advantages and disadvantages. For example, a lot of tiktokers edit videos or vlogs to review cuisine in a certain country. They try tasting traditional food and leave feedback to other people, so it is convenient for tourists to choose restaurants and dishes and they can feel their trips are worth the price. Additionally, people can learn more about the tradition, customs and lifestyle through the internet and don’t feel isolated when getting involved in a new environment.
On the other hand, travelling abroad can provide first-hand experiences while using the internet only shows people one-sided perspectives. Indeed, each person has their own view, some find those destinations interesting, some are contrasting. Therefore, to understand more clearly, people should experience the beauty and interest of a country in person instead of reading reviews on the internet. Additionally, if investing in trips to different countries, visitors can interact face-to-face with local people to immerse in a new environment and enhance their horizons about holistic cultural values.
All in all, using the internet technology can help people easily access the information but travelling to other countries is still the best way to deepen cultural awareness for people.
