The pie charts compare the energy production categorized by different fuel types in the UK between 2014 and 2018.
In general, the percentage of renewable energy in generation increased considerably, while the figure for coal and nuclear power declined slightly over the period. Notably, the gas generation remained a stable proportion accounting for the largest share, whereas the oil and other fuels reported the lowest figure in the given period.
In 2014, the production of energy generated from renewables stood at 15%, rising steadly, reaching 26.2% in 2018, which became the second most popular fuel. The coal and nuclear power generation, on the other hand, experienced a decline, falling from 28.4% and 22.5% in 2014 to 18.1% and 21.6% in 2018, respectively.
As for the remaining fuels, the figure for gas and oil along with other sources remained unchanged in both years. However, the former fuel accounted for the largest proportion(30.1%), whereas the latter one contributed the lowest figure at 4% overall.
