Nowadays, due to economic growth, countries purchase more products than ever before, and due to the lack of control in recycling facilities, this results in excessive rubbish. To tackle the problem, the government should enact laws about the limitation of products produced, and raise awareness, with the help of the media and the syllabus.
One of the primary reasons is consumerism. People tend to buy more and more goods, by replacing the old ones, even if they are in a good condition, just because goods are becoming outfashioned quickly. For example, phones and fashion items are being replaced frequently, even if they are still functional. Furthermore, people barely recycle stuff, which contributes to the increased amount of waste. Yet, people still throw away different stuff, such as plastic bottles, bar jars, and paper, despite the availability of recycling facilities in some areas. The lack of recycling habits leads to environmental issues and health problems.
To mitigate the problem, the government can enact laws to the companies that produce goods, to limit the production of their products. Specifically, companies have to reduce the amount of production of non-cycled material and encourage them to recycle their own products through financial incentives. Moreover, the government, media, and schools should work together, to minimize the amount of overflow, by spreading awareness about the potential problems of more rubbish being thrown. Children at schools and adults in their workplace should be taught how to recycle or reuse the goods, thus, they will understand about the environmental consequences, and are likely to make wise choices.
To sum up, most rubbish is being produced due to consumerism and lack of recycling habits. To reduce waste production, the authorities can raise awareness and impose laws on companies.
