These days, this is a view that social bonds formed online are not as much meaningful as face to face relationships. Personally, I completely agree with this opinion for two main reasons, which will be outlined below.
One might argue that online connection, ranging from social media to chats, often lack of trust and emotional connection. That is to say, people may share messages, but they don’t show true emotions and they never know feelings how they feel each other better. For example, the whole world’s populations using online apps, including but not limited to WeChat, Blink, Instagram, Telegram, and so on, to communicate with someone, but many of them should face unrealistic feelings. Therefore, online friendships could be seen in a negative light and can be misleading and shallow.
Personally, I strongly believe that face-to-face interactions help build trust and stronger emotional bonds since people can see facial expressions, body languages, and tones, and then they feel more confident and comprehend immediately. For instance, when I discuss a personal problem with a friend in person, I can believe someone who is able to be a true and sincerely friend and this makes me feel supported and more confident. Thus, offline friendship could be seen in a positive light.
In conclusion, although online interactions can provide stay connected, in-person friendships are more expressive and trustworthy. Additonally, real-life connections allow individuals understand each other and ensure their real emotions. That is why I generally choose offline friendships that should be valued.
