The pie charts compare the usage of four different means of transportation in the UK in three separate years 1965, 1985 and 2005.
Overall, it is clear that private cars took up the majority of the three graphs and rose steadily over the period. Another noticeable trend is the decline of recreational vehicles and those were also the least chosen option.
In terms of private cars, 40% citizens selected this vehicle in 1965 and markedly rose to 60% in 2005, making it the most popular transport throughout the year. Whereas, the number of people who drove lorries and other commercial vehicles stabilised from 1965 to 1985, at 20%. However, this figure fell by half in 2005.
The appeal of mass transit accounted for a quarter of the chart in 1965 and dropped 5% to 20% in the next 20 years. Similarly, the same pattern was seen in recreational vehicles. However, these types of transport grew their popularity in 2005. 22% UK people chose public transport and only 8% used vehicles for the purpose of entertainment.
