Some people believe that, it bears both, benefits and difficulties while being a popular athlete or a famous movie star. Although, there are numerous benefits of becoming famous such as huge compensations for working and brand associations, there are also some downsides ike lack of privacy, and criticism over actions committed in private life. But I believe that advantages outweigh disadvantages of becoming a celebrity, if a person can maintain decent conduct socially.
Film actors are often offered large renumerations for working in a movie. Often for a movie, an announcement of association with a famous actor is enough to amass substantial public interest, and increase chances to generate huge revenues. For instance, upcoming Avengers Doomsday movie is one of the most anticipated movies due to casting of Robert Downey Jr. Similarly, when a famous sports personality endorses or shows public association with a brand, it naturally becomes more appealing to public and promote large number of sales subsequently. For example, Nika and Puma are some of the most recognizable and sought-after brands all over the world, because major personalities from various popular sports use and market their products.
In contrary, with fame, private life of a person suffers greatly, and they remain under constant spotlight where the smallest mistake cannot remain hidden. Media persistently follow day to day lives of celebrities, and always try to look into their private matters. This often results in reporting of stories without complete details, fuelling unwanted problems and misunderstandings which can affect lives of people around them and their families. For example, a huge movie star Johnny Depp lost his famous role of Captain Jack Sparrow because details of his dispute with his former wife were made public by media.
Therefore I believe that, if a person can avoid controversies, unnecessary media attention and maintain a public friendly image, there are more advantages of being popular in public.
Concluding that, by becoming famous a person can enjoy wealth and substantial monetary benefits, but on the other hand he has to compromise over private life. I think fame brings more advantages than disadvantages if a person can manage to lead scandal free life and avoid media when not necessary.
