The bar chart illustrates the demographic proportion of men and women in Australia who consistently engaged in physical activity in 2010.
Overall, women were more active than men in all age groups except for the youngest group. In addition, the youngest group accounted for the largest amount of activity amongst other groups.
Men aged between 15 to 24 contribute to 52.8% of physical activity, recorded as the only age group with higher rates than women. On the other hand, women in this age group registered 47.7% of activity. While in 24-35 age cohort men’s activity fell to 42.2%, women’s activity increased to 48.2%, surpassing men and continously remaining higher than that of men. For 35-44 age segment, the downward trend continued for men, reaching 39.5% whereas, this figure rose to 52.5% for women.
For 45-54 age group, the figure for men moderately grew to 43.1%. Meanwhile, women hitted the highest point of 53.3%. For 55-64 age group, men’s activity rose to 45.1, while women’s figure slightly dropped to 53%. For the oldest age group, men registered 46.7% activity and women recorded 47.1% activity.
