Some similarities are the weekly consumptions of household goods and fuel and power. Although families in 1968 spent around 3% more for fuel and power. Another similiar spending is in personal goods with the older families spent 4% more than the younger families. In addition to that, the older generations also spent more on clothing and footware.
In the other hand, the biggest differences are shown in the cost of food, leisure, and housing. Families in 1968 paid 35% of their weekly income for food. While, the biggest cost for families in 2018 was leisure activites. Next, the second biggest spending for the younger families were towards transportation. A bigger cost for housing also experienced by the families in 2018, with over 9% more spent than the other time of period.
