Nowadays, people tend to think that a foreign language should be taught in secondary school while others believe it to be a part of their primary school teachings. Early education focuses on brain development, whereas secondary school emphasizes better understanding of complex concepts. In my opinion, introducing language in the early years of schooling would be more beneficial for children.
Primary teaching forms basic fundamentals in the life of an individual. It sets the acclimatization power, adaptation ability, and learning principles of a person, leading to increased level of intellectuality. For instance, I started my early schooling at St.Patrick’s School, where they emphasized on completing different tasks with new groups of children everyday that led to developing a habit of coping with a variety of problems and developed strong team working skills.
Moreover, the method of teaching was also changed every week which familiarised students with numerous ways of learning. Since I was inducted into these types of activities from the very beginning I never felt public dealing difficult. Similarly, if foreign language training would be added in early teaching it will become a piece of cake for people to learn it.
While, secondary school helps to understand complex phenomena such as solar system, algebra, or grammar, it is difficult to learn a whole new language. Students would find it boring and uninteresting as it is something they have not heard before. For instance, when a toddler listens to the language being spoken in his home he quickly learns it as he is familiar with the words but if a new language is introduced when he starts to grasp concepts, now faces significant issues.
In conclusion, early introduction of language training would benefit students as they would have adapted, acclimatized, and familiarized themselves leading to better learning. Therefore, in my opinion, it should be added at primary school levels so that it becomes part of their basic and fundamental principles.
